I got into a VERBAL argument with an ex friend and she immediatly called the police and pressed ult charges

I got into a VERBAL argument with an ex friend and she immediatly called the police and pressed ult charges claiming that I hit her! A mutual friend who was there when the police came said the officers asked her some questions about how I allegedly hit her and she said my hand touched her when I took the phone off of her ear! They noted that she had no marks on her face and advised me not to contact her but that she had pressed ult charges on me. I'm just wondering what the judicial process is following the charge and If she can be punished for false alligations!?
