China is raising gas prices. Can't we do the same here in the U.S?

Well, it has had an effect on some people's driving habits and sales of dump truck sized SUV's are almost non existent, most car dealers won't even take them as trades because they're too hard to get rid of. I hate to say this but I think gas prices SHOULD go up, if it went up high enough maybe the guzzlers will become extinct and people will start using public transportation, bicycles and their feet. I will admit that when I'm filling my little 4 cylinder for $45, I laugh my @ss off at the shmuck that wanted to impress everyone with his Hummer, as his pump ticks past $100 - lol.
