Apollo 13 Thermal Roll?

On a normal Apollo translunar phase, they performed what was called a Themal roll which involved the capsule being put in a slow rotation in order to avoid one side overheating in direct sunlight or extreme cold in shadow, my question is why when Apollo 13 had to shut down all critical systems to conserve power, which included heaters, why did the interior become some so cold. If any part of craft left to long facing sun would become overheated. why did astronauts not get heat from sun coming through windows.
